Prepare for arrival to PLANET ALPHA on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC in 2018! I just started Chapter 3, does it get better? I wasn't really around when it launched but from what I understand it is generally considered among the indie classics? I guess what I want from this post is to understand a bit of this game's status. I feel like it's very focused on its style and quirkiness, which is compelling enough to distract from the mediocre gameplay for a while. It's slowly feeling more like busywork than like something that's entertaining me. It's been somewhere in the middle, meaning just mediocre all around. And it isn't the level of casual fun I can get from Mario games/classic platformers. The gameplay isn't the frenetic platforming goodness I got from Super Meat Boy or The End is Nigh. The last game I tried was Battleblock Theater and it has endured a few more minutes, but idk, I'm not necessarily feeling it. I've been going through game after game from my backlog and I've been basically throwing everything to limbo after 5 minutes. I just played Into the Breach right after finishing Hollow Knight, so I've set the bar too high.
